Policies
Terms of use
In force from the day Tong launches publicly · Applies to Tong on iPhone, Android and the web (app.tong.party)
In short
These terms are the agreement between you and Wevention Pty Ltd, the Australian company that publishes Tong. You agree to these terms and our Community guidelines when you tick the box in the app. Our Privacy notice explains how we handle your data.
Wevention Pty Ltd (ABN 87 645 587 631, ACN 645 587 631), Level 2, 11–17 York Street, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia. "We" and "us" in these terms mean Wevention Pty Ltd.
1. What Tong is
- Tong is an app for making friends. It is named after the tea stall where friends meet.
- You see people one at a time, nearest first: near you, anywhere in Bangladesh or anywhere in the world, as you choose. You can send a friend request. A chat opens only when the other person accepts.
- Tong is for friendship only. It is not for finding romance or sex.
- We can't promise that you will make friends, or that anyone you meet is who they say they are, even after our checks.
2. Who can use Tong
You can use Tong only if all of these are true:
- You are 18 or over. This applies in every country, even where local rules allow younger people.
- You have a Bangladeshi mobile number (+880, starting 013 to 019) that can receive our SMS code. You can live anywhere. If you are abroad, the code goes to your Bangladeshi SIM, so it must be active with roaming on.
- You have only one Tong account. Each mobile number belongs to one account only.
- You are not banned from Tong. If we banned you, you may not come back with another number or another account.
- You agree to our checks (section 4).
- You can make a binding agreement under the law that applies to you.
If we find that you are under 18, we close your account and delete it at once.
3. Your account
- You can sign in with your mobile number, email, Google or Apple (Apple on the devices where Tong offers it). Every account verifies a Bangladeshi mobile number, whichever way you sign in.
- You can link Google, Apple or an email to your account, and change your phone number, in Settings → Account. If you only sign in with your mobile number, you need that SIM each time you sign in on a new phone; linking another way to sign in avoids this.
- Keep your account to yourself. Don't share it, sell it, or let anyone else use it.
- Never share your sign-in code with anyone. Tong will never ask you for it.
- Give us true information. Your date of birth can't be changed in the app; if it is wrong, contact support. You can change your gender at most once every 30 days.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account, unless it happens because of our mistake or someone else's misuse that you couldn't reasonably prevent.
4. Checks before your profile is shown
Nobody sees your profile until it passes our checks, and you can't see others until then either.
- Live camera check. A short video selfie shows you are a real person.
- Photo checks. Every profile photo is checked automatically and, where unclear, by a trained Tong reviewer. Each photo must be of you, with your face clearly visible.
- Location. Tong needs your approximate location to show people nearby. Your area can be seen by people near and far, never your exact location.
The checks need your consent to face checks and your location consent. If you don't give them, or you withdraw them, your profile is hidden. How the checks work, and what we keep, is in our Privacy notice.
We may ask you to do the live camera check again. We may remove a photo that breaks our rules. If you miss the live camera check twice, you can ask a person to look at it instead.
5. Friend requests
- After the launch offer, everyone can send 3 friend requests a day, up to 10 in any 7 days and up to 30 in any 30 days. These are rolling periods, counted in server time.
- The launch offer. For the first 30 days after Tong's public launch, there is no friend-request allowance: no daily, weekly or monthly limit (the anti-abuse limits below still apply), and everyone can add up to 5 photos. After the offer ends, you can have up to 3 photos. You keep photos you already added, but you can't add more while you have 3 or more. Requests sent during the offer never count toward the later limits.
- The app always shows the limits that apply to you, and when the offer ends.
- We also limit how fast anyone can send requests, to stop abuse. We don't publish these limits.
- A request you cancel still counts toward your limit.
- A request that gets no answer ends after 30 days. The other person is never told that you cancelled, and you are never told that they declined.
- After a request ends, you may have to wait before you can send the same person another one.
- We can raise these limits at any time. If we lower them, we tell you in the app at least 7 days before the change applies.
6. Chat
- You can chat only with friends, one to one. Either of you can end the friendship or block the other at any time.
- Tong doesn't read chat content; chat photos and videos are only matched against lists of known child sexual abuse material. A Tong reviewer sees a message only if one of you reports it.
- Anything you send can be saved or forwarded by the friend you send it to. Only send what you are comfortable sharing.
- Voice messages and videos are deleted 90 days after they are sent.
- Chat is not end-to-end encrypted. It is encrypted in transit and when stored.
- GIFs and stickers come from KLIPY, a separate company. They are made by others, not by Tong. When you use or view GIFs and stickers, KLIPY's privacy policy applies to what it receives (see our Privacy notice).
7. Your content
- You keep ownership of what you post: your photos, profile text and messages.
- You give Wevention Pty Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, free licence to store, copy, check, show and send your content only as needed to run Tong, keep it safe and meet the law: for example to show your profile to others, deliver your messages, run our checks and keep copies for reports. You agree that we may resize, crop or compress your content and remove hidden details (such as location data) from it.
- We don't use your photos, profile or messages for advertising, we don't sell them, and we don't use them to train AI.
- The licence ends when your content is deleted under our Privacy notice, except for copies we must keep for a report, a legal hold or up to 14 days in backups.
- Post only content that you have the right to post. Don't post photos of other people.
- Some copies stay after you delete them: copies your friends saved or forwarded, copies kept with a report, and backups for up to 14 days.
- Tong's app, name, logo and design belong to Wevention Pty Ltd. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them only to use Tong under these terms.
8. Rules
Tong has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive people. Follow our Community guidelines. In short, you must not:
- pretend to be someone else, or use someone else's photos;
- use Tong if you are under 18, or help a child use it;
- harass, bully, threaten or blackmail anyone, or threaten to share someone's photos or videos;
- post or send sexual content, or use Tong to look for or sell sex;
- treat Tong as a dating app, for example by pressing someone for a date or romance they haven't asked for;
- post hate, violence, weapons used to threaten, or drugs;
- share, ask for or keep material that sexualises a child, promotes or teaches terrorism, or shows extreme violence, cruelty or crime;
- scam people, ask for money, send spam or advertise;
- put phone numbers, links, email addresses or social media handles on your profile;
- make fake, false or malicious reports;
- create another account after a ban, or to reach someone who blocked you;
- break the law, or use Tong to harm anyone;
- copy, scrape or misuse Tong or other people's data, get around our limits or security, or use Tong through automated tools;
- interfere with Tong, or try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours.
9. What we can do if you break the rules
Anyone can report or block anyone, from a profile, a photo or any message. Our team reviews every report within 24 hours, the most urgent first, and removes content that breaks these terms and acts against the account that posted it. To keep people safe, we can:
- remove a photo;
- send you a warning;
- ask you to do the live camera check again;
- hide your profile until a reviewer has looked, for example after several reports or if you may be under 18;
- suspend your account for 1, 7 or 30 days, or until we lift it;
- ban your account.
We act in proportion to what happened and look at your history. If we remove a photo, warn you or suspend you, the app tells you what happened and why. If we ban you, we tell you why when you write to contact@tong.party. While your profile is hidden for a review, the app shows "Being checked". We never tell you who reported you.
If you are banned, you are signed out and can't sign in, your friendships end and your chats close at once, and your face data is deleted at once. We start deleting the rest of your account 40 days after the ban, so that an appeal sent in time is decided first, and finish within a further 30 days (at once if you are under 18). We keep your mobile number in scrambled form for 2 years, so it can't be used to join again.
Appeals. You can appeal a suspension or a ban by email to contact@tong.party within 30 days. An admin who wasn't involved in the decision reviews it and replies within 7 days. If you think we were wrong not to approve a photo, whether a reviewer or our automatic check decided, email us within 30 days and a reviewer who wasn't involved will look at it; appeals from inside the app are not available yet. A failed live camera check needs no appeal: you can try again. A photo not approved for no face, several faces, an unclear face or a bad file needs no appeal: replace it.
10. Tong is free
Tong is free to use and shows no ads. There is nothing to buy in Tong now. If we add paid features later, we will tell you first, and they will come with their own terms.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time: Settings → Delete account, or on the web (how). It can't be undone. Deletion is completed within 30 days. What we delete and what we keep is in our Privacy notice.
12. Our service
- We work to keep Tong running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, slow or changed.
- We may need you to update the app to keep using Tong.
- We may change or pause a feature for a good reason, such as safety, the law, a technical problem or improving Tong. If a change takes away something important to you, we tell you in the app first. If we decide to close Tong, we will tell you in the app, and by email if we have your address, at least 30 days before, so you can download your data. Your account is then deleted as our Privacy notice describes.
- Tong on Android needs Google Play services. Where they are missing, you can use Tong in your browser at app.tong.party.
13. Disclaimers and limits of liability
Your rights under consumer law come first. Nothing in these terms takes away a right or remedy you have under a law that can't be excluded, including the consumer guarantees of the Australian Consumer Law, Bangladesh's Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009, your rights under data protection law (including Bangladesh's Personal Data Protection Act 2026), or the consumer law of the country where you live. Where that law gives you more than these terms, that law applies.
What we can't promise. We provide Tong with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and only as far as the law allows, we don't promise that Tong will always be available or free of errors, that you will make friends, or that other members are who they say they are or will behave well, even after our checks.
Other members. Other members are responsible for what they post, send and do. We aren't responsible for what another member does, on Tong or when you meet, unless we caused or contributed to the harm, for example by not acting on a report as these terms say we will. Please read our safety tips, and report anyone who makes you feel unsafe.
Meeting in person. Whether and how you meet someone is your choice. Meet in a public place first and tell someone you trust.
Other companies' services. GIFs and stickers come from KLIPY, and you may sign in with Apple or Google. Their own terms apply to their services. We aren't responsible for content they provide, but we remove anything on Tong that breaks our rules.
What we are responsible for. If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result of that. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if both of us knew it might happen when you agreed to these terms. We are not responsible for:
- loss that wasn't foreseeable;
- business losses, such as lost profit or business opportunity, because Tong is for personal use only;
- loss caused by something outside our reasonable control, for example a failure of the internet, a power cut or an act of a government, provided we take reasonable steps to limit its effect.
What we never limit. We never limit or exclude our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for our duties under data protection law, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
You are responsible for how you use Tong and what you share.
14. Ending this agreement
You can stop using Tong and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end your account under section 9, if the law requires it, or if we close Tong under section 12. Sections 7 (for copies we may keep), 13, 15 and 18 continue to apply after the agreement ends. If Wevention transfers Tong to another company, this agreement moves with it; we tell you first, and you can delete your account before it moves.
15. Governing law and disputes
Talk to us first. If something goes wrong, please write to contact@tong.party with "Dispute" in the subject, and tell us what happened and what you would like us to do. We reply within 14 days and try to sort it out within 30 days. This step is free and optional: you don't have to use it before going to a court or a regulator, and it doesn't stop you complaining to a regulator at any time.
Which law. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. If you live outside Australia, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, such as its consumer and data protection laws.
Which courts. If we can't settle a dispute, it can go to the courts of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts that can hear appeals from them. You can also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, if the law there allows it. We don't require arbitration, and we don't stop you joining a group claim where the law allows it.
Regulators. You can always complain to a regulator. In Bangladesh, consumer complaints go to the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, and data protection complaints go to the National Data Management Authority. In Australia, you can go to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, NSW Fair Trading or, for privacy, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. If you are in Australia, you can also report serious online abuse to the eSafety Commissioner (esafety.gov.au).
16. Apple and Google
If you got Tong from the App Store or Google Play:
- this agreement is between you and Wevention Pty Ltd only, not Apple or Google. We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for Tong, its content, its support and maintenance, and for dealing with any claim about it, including a claim that Tong breaks the law or someone's intellectual property;
- your licence to use the app is personal and non-transferable, and limited to devices you own or control, under the app store's own rules (for the App Store, Apple's Usage Rules);
- you must also follow the terms of any other service you use with Tong, such as your mobile operator's;
- if Tong fails to meet a promise that applies to it, you can tell Apple or Google, and they may refund what you paid for the app (Tong is free). Apart from that, Apple and Google have no obligation to you about Tong;
- you confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. Government embargo or on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
- Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce this section as third-party beneficiaries.
17. Changes to these terms
We post every new version on this page with its date. If a change matters to you (for example it reduces your rights or adds a new obligation), we tell you in the app at least 30 days before it applies, and the app asks you to agree to the new version. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before the change applies, and these terms keep applying to you until then. Changes the law requires, or that we must make urgently to keep people safe, can apply sooner; we tell you as soon as we can. We keep every earlier version: write to us for a copy.
18. Language
These terms are published in English and Bangla. Both versions are equally valid. If they ever seem to say different things, the meaning that is more favourable to you applies. If a court decides that part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
